GO electric day 2025: The new key event for getting started with electric mobility in Luxembourg

Under the aegis of two key players in Luxembourg’s energy transition, Klima-Agence and ACL, the first edition of GO electric day will take place on Sunday 19 October 2025, from 11:00 to 17:00 at the Coque on Kirchberg.

This new, free event will be held in the Arena and on the surrounding forecourts. Its aim is to raise public awareness of electric and soft mobility by offering a wide range of information, demonstrations and hands-on experiences.

Electric mobility: already well established in Luxembourg

Electric mobility is no longer a trend in Luxembourg. It has become a reality. Over the past ten years, the share of purely electric new vehicle registrations has increased from 0.2% in 2015 to 27.4% in 2024, making electric vehicles the second most popular powertrain after petrol, which accounted for 29.6% of registrations in 2024.

Charging infrastructure has also expanded significantly. Luxembourg currently has 3,000 public charging points, which corresponds to an average of one charging point per kilometre of road. Since the introduction of Klimabonus incentives for private charging points, around 11,000 subsidy applications have been submitted to the Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity.

This growth reflects the evolution of the national automotive market and aligns with the objectives of the National Energy and Climate Plan (PNEC).

Making electric mobility accessible to everyone

A recent ACL study highlights the main concerns of its members regarding electric mobility: vehicle range, purchase costs and charging options. Although 38% of respondents already use a fully electric vehicle, often as their main car, a significant proportion of the population remains hesitant to make the switch.

The most frequently mentioned barriers are limited range, high prices and restricted access to charging points, despite Luxembourg’s well-developed public charging network.

These factors illustrate a cautious adoption, shaped by concrete expectations regarding comfort and practicality. To accelerate the transition, it is essential to address these concerns and make electric mobility more accessible and convincing.

This is the core objective of GO electric day: to provide innovative, practical solutions to support people in their transition to electric mobility.

A unique event with over 30 exhibitors and 70 electric vehicles

GO electric day will bring together all the key players in the electric mobility sector, offering visitors a comprehensive overview in a single day.

Automotive dealers, financial service providers, charging infrastructure operators and national initiatives promoting soft mobility will all be represented.

Programme highlights

  • Test drives with electric vehicles, allowing visitors to compare models under real conditions
  • Holistic approach: integrating electric mobility into decarbonised housing
  • Practical solutions for financing, leasing, charging infrastructure and more
  • Expert advice from industry professionals on site
  • Activities for the whole family and a major prize draw
  • Children’s entertainment and catering areas, ensuring a friendly and welcoming atmosphere

TRUSTED PARTNERS FOR A GOOD & SAVE FUTURE

Klima-Agence: Supporting society through the energy transition

Through GO electric day, Klima-Agence showcases its role as a central partner in energy and mobility issues. Around 65% of electric vehicle owners in Luxembourg also have photovoltaic installations. Combining an electric vehicle with solar panels and a heat pump is proving to be a particularly effective way to decarbonise households.

This combination enables better control of energy costs, relies on clean and future-proof technologies, and strengthens energy resilience.

Klima-Agence’s advisory and support services include:

  • Free and independent advice for private individuals
  • Online tools such as the charging point comparator (bornes.klima-agence.lu) and subsidy simulator (aides.klima-agence.lu)
  • Klimabonus Mobilitéit, the national support programme for purchasing electric vehicles, installing private charging points and acquiring cargo bikes
  • The “Ladelotsin” service for co-ownerships, which helps building managers and owners implement charging infrastructure in apartment buildings
  • The municipal “Ladelotse” service and other tools to support municipalities, including a national map projecting charging point needs through 2030
  • Klimapakt fir Betriber, a structured programme to help companies strengthen resilience and competitiveness by introducing electric mobility

ACL: Luxembourg’s neutral mobility partner

The Automobile Club du Luxembourg has long been committed to ensuring individual mobility that is safe, affordable and sustainable. It supports private individuals, companies and municipalities in adapting their mobility strategies.

Electric mobility plays a key role in this transformation, alongside other solutions aimed at reducing environmental impact and optimising mobility costs.

ACL’s services and activities include:

  • Neutral and personalised advice on powertrain choices and charging solutions
  • A powertrain simulator and practical e-mobility guide to support informed decisions
  • Electric vehicle rentals (cars and bikes)
  • Information events such as conferences, seminars and public advice days on e-mobility
  • Corporate training programmes, run in cooperation with the CGDIS
  • Battery testing at the ACL Diagnostic Center
  • Specialised roadside assistance equipment for electric vehicles
  • Support for innovative pilot projects, such as ACL Car Sharing in Elmen and the cargo bike project in Esch
  • Sales of carefully selected charging and vehicle accessories
