Electric mobility becomes more accessible

Electric mobility is becoming part of everyday life in Luxembourg. The share of fully electric cars among new registrations rose from just 0.2% in 2015 to 26.9% in 2025, making electric vehicles the second most popular powertrain choice, behind non plug in hybrids at 29.3%. The trend is continuing in 2026. More than 30% of new cars registered during the first eight months of the year were fully electric. At the same time, the choice of vehicles has grown, with models available for a much wider range of needs and budgets. The used EV market is growing too, supported in part by the €1,500 Klimabonus Mobilitéit subsidy. By the end of September 2026, sales of used fully electric cars are expected to have already matched the total for the whole of 2025. At GO electric day, visitors can explore this growing choice for themselves, with vehicles across different price ranges, test drives and experts on hand to answer questions.

Connecting mobility, energy and the home

This year, the focus goes beyond the vehicle. Electric mobility is increasingly connected to how we produce, manage and use energy at home. Solar panels, home charging, battery storage and energy management systems can work together to make better use of locally generated electricity, optimise household energy consumption and reduce mobility costs. GO electric day brings the different pieces together in one place. Car dealers, charging providers, financial services and national sustainable mobility initiatives will be there to help visitors understand the options and find solutions that fit their needs.

Klima-Agence: supporting the energy transition as a whole

Through GO electric day, Klima-Agence highlights its role in supporting Luxembourg’s energy and climate transition. Combining an electric vehicle, solar panels and a heat pump can help households better manage their energy costs, use clean and future ready technologies and strengthen their energy resilience. An energy management system can connect these technologies and optimise how electricity is produced and used at home. From 1 October 2026, a new subsidy under Klimabonus Wunnen will support the installation of energy management systems.

Klima-Agence also provides a range of online tools to help people plan their electric mobility projects.

• ChargeTool makes it easier to compare charging and energy management solutions available on the Luxembourg market.
• ChargeCheckallows users to compare public charging tariffs, find available charging stations and better understand charging costs.
• The Solar simulator helps users assess the potential of a solar installation, compare different configurations and identify the solution best suited to their home.
• The Subsidy simulator provides an overview of the financial support available for housing and mobility projects.

Beyond these digital tools, Klima-Agence offers free and independent advice to individuals looking for practical support with their mobility projects. The government’s Klimabonus Mobilitéit programme provides financial support for measures including the purchase of a vehicle, the installation of a charging station and the purchase of a cargo bike. For charging infrastructure in apartment buildings, “Ladelotsin” provides dedicated support to co owners and building managers, helping them plan and implement charging solutions suited to their building.

ACL: Trusted mobility partner since 1932

ACL has been supporting people in their mobility since 1932. Today, with close to 200,000 members, the Club is there every day for people on the move. Technologies, habits and needs have changed over the decades. Its mission remains the same: to inform, advise and support. From roadside assistance and the Diagnostic Center to mobility advice and ACL Trafic Info, ACL looks at mobility from every angle. This 360 degree perspective provides first hand insight into what is happening on the road, how technologies are evolving and what mobility users need. Since 2022, ACL has organised 23 public events across Luxembourg to inform, explain and talk directly to people about the transition to electric mobility. And the questions are changing fast. In 2024, individual consultations on electric mobility more than doubled compared with the previous year. Today, more than 80% of enquiries to ACL’s mobility advisory service concern electric mobility. The focus has changed too. Questions that once centred mainly on vehicles and powertrains now cover an entire ecosystem: charging, home equipment, solar power, batteries, subsidies, payment methods and leasing. ACL is continuously adapting its expertise and services to these changing needs. This includes individual advice, public information events, practical information, corporate training, battery diagnostics and assistance services adapted to electric mobility. In an increasingly complex environment, the goal remains simple: to provide neutral, practical information, advice and support, so people can make mobility choices that fit their own needs.

This is also the purpose of the partnership between Klima-Agence and ACL for GO electric day. By bringing together their complementary expertise, both partners can provide practical answers to the public’s questions about electric mobility.
